Last time in Moses Lake

While Jason was driving my car across the country (see previous posts with the dog and a very messed up flat tire), I was in Moses Lake with my family.
Kelli brought Nicholas out to the farm for an afternoon, and he really enjoyed wandering around all by himself.
One of the other days, I went to Ben and Kelli's house for awhile and chatted and played with Nicholas.  I learned how much he likes laundry.
Taking the clothes out of the dryer as well as putting them back in are fun.
I was hoping he would climb all the way in, and he almost did once, but of course my camera was being temperamental, so this is the closest picture I got to him being in the dryer.
And finally, this is me trying to take a good picture of us while Kelli was vacuuming... hence the frozen look and the binky in Nicholas's mouth.  He's not a real big fan of the vacuum and starts freaking out even if he SEES the vacuum.  After Kelli put it away, I caught him staring at the closet where it is kept as he walked by it... to make sure it wasn't going to jump out at him. :)
I also took a trip to Richland to see my cousin Jenn and her new house... but sadly, no pictures from that.  When I returned home from that, I spent the rest of the evening at my grandpa's house talking with him and listening to his stories, which I always love listening to. :)  Once again, no pictures... :(

Sunrise, pigs, shooting, cards, baptism, jetski

So after all the hype about Jason not being able to eat solid foods, he had no issues with the surgery and was able to eat normal the next day.  Since he was feeling normal, he decided he was good enough to go salmon fishing with some local fishing friends, and here's a couple pictures of the sunrise from the boat.

And here's Mt Rainier with the sunrise too... although the sunrise is behind Jason, so the mountain is still somewhat dark.
When Jason got back from fishing, we headed to Moses Lake for the weekend.  Saturday morning looked like this for Jason:

Herding pigs with Dayna and Ben and getting them ready to be sold... I just took pictures. ;)
Nicholas also came to say hi (as well as Kelli).  This is one of his new favorite things to do... at least that day it was.
Saturday afternoon was REALLY hot.  It was record heat, or maybe just really close to record heat, but either way, it was HOT.  The guys decided to go shooting... "the guys" included Jason, my brother Ben, my uncle Chris, and my cousins Kit and Alex.  They shot close to 200 clay pigeons with several different guns.  My cousin Lisa and I were planning on shooting with them, but it was too hot for us, so we just let the guys go.  Here's Jason and Ben:

Jason actually ended up with a bruise on his right shoulder from all the shooting, and a little bit of an agitated jaw, but not too bad considering he'd just had his wisdom teeth out 2 days before that!
We also got to go over to the Hochstatter's house for pinochle.  Jason and I don't really play pinochle, but there was food and people to talk to there, so we went anyway.  Jason was really tired because he had been awake since 5 am (to help with the pigs), but Nicholas still managed to entertain him for awhile.
Nicholas also entertained plenty of other people there... including himself.
Sunday was our niece, Thea Annelise's, baptism.  Her godparents are Chad Hall (uncle) and Amy Davison (aunt).  From left to right: Dayna (Thea's mom), Danelle (big sister), Shane (Thea's dad), Chad, Amy, Thea, Pastor Lund, my dad, (my mom behind him), Renae Hall (Shane's mom), and Keith Hall (Shane's dad).

Nicholas also saw his Great Papa at the baptism and was pretty excited about it!
After the baptism at church, we had a get together at my parents' house for bbq, cake and talking.  Thea decided the whole day was too much and passed out. ;)
After the get together, Jason had the opportunity to go jetskiing for the first time.  My cousin Brian has a jetski and tube to pull behind it.  It was a great way to cool down from the hot day, and they even managed to talk me into going... even though I ended up getting pretty good whiplash and still can't turn my head all the way to the right.
Jason getting ready to go.  Those chairs were pretty nice to just sit in while the others were tubing.

Jason wiping out.  If you look close, you can see his body to the right of the tube.
Ben getting ready to go... he's just pretty darn big for that tube!
Jason got to drive too...
Look at the spiky hair from speeding so fast... oh, and the life jacket that's a bit small. :)
Jason had spiky hair too... and if Brian had any hair, his probably would have been spiky too.
All in all, it was a good weekend and Jason and I didn't leave until sometime between 7 and 8 in the evening.  We had a nice light show going over the pass because there was a pretty big thunder and lightning storm in the Cascades.
For those that would like ALL the pictures I took this weekend, you'll have to wait a bit. ;)  I'm going to put them all on kodakgallery.com eventually, but I've posted so many pictures online today that I'm going to wait and do it later.  :)

Shooting and the Vietnam Wall...

I have lots to update on!
Jason and I came over to Moses Lake this weekend to be with my family for Father's Day and our nephew's first birthday party.  While we were over here though, we decided to do some shooting with Jason's new gun that he bought at Cabela's the first few days he was home.
Here's our target... yes that's a couch cushion we found out at the sand pit.
Jason had to try first to make sure everything was working alright.
Then I tried... I think I look funny.
I mean serious business!
Here's one more of Jason... for good measure.

In all, I don't think I did all that bad.  The barrel was hot from shooting so much, so that made our patterns a bit off-wack, and the fact that we didn't have any good rest to stabilize the gun... but we still hit the target every time.

Yesterday Jason and I went to the traveling wall exhibit at the fairgrounds.  We just happened to be in the right town at the right time, and the Vietnam Wall traveling memorial was here.  It was pretty interesting and humbling to go see it.

We were also surprised to see they had memorials for 9-11:

And for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

We found some names we knew...

Sgt Stephen Sherman was in Jason's company on his first tour in Iraq.
SPC Robert Wesley Tucker is from Celina, TN where Jason grew up.
SPC Chad Groepper was in HHC, 2-23, 4-2 ID during this deployment.  Erica's husband, the army wife I lived with during the deployment, knew Chad very well... and he is greatly missed, but never forgotten!
Again, SPC Luke Runyan was in Erica's husband's company.  Chad and Luke died in the same explosion.
Like I said, it was very humbling to be there and see the Vietnam Vets on their motorcycles that are following the traveling wall around the nation.  I was fighting tears several times, especially once we started looking for names we knew.
