Skink

Since my mom asked what a skink was, here is a picture of the little guy that was in our living room yesterday.  This picture was taken with my phone, so it's not the greatest, and he didn't really want to hold still either.  And mom, Jason told me it was a skink. :)  PS... I don't know how to make this image smaller since I took it from photobucket, so click on the picture to see all of him... sorry.

Just to let you know...

We are a little bit MIA right now due to not having internet up at the house yet.  The only time we can get online is at work, at our rental house still, or anywhere else that has wireless internet for free. :)
We have slept in the house for a couple of nights now... after a rough night of getting some things moved, which included english muffins rolling down the hilly driveway, a refrigerator falling on its side (luckily not the one for the kitchen), and a crunched back quarter panel of Jason's pickup--oops.  Oh well, those are the battle wounds of moving.  I'll get more in-depth about those things later, but now I should get back to packing more stuff here at the rental.
Oh yeah, and I found a blue-tailed skink in our living room this morning. :)

Baby Update!

I had another baby appointment this morning, just a regular checkup.  We listened to his heartbeat again, and it was at 145... perfect. :)  The funny part was that right in the middle of listening to it, he kicked the monitor REALLY hard... made me laugh.  I was joking with the medical assistant that I needed to get one of those monitors so that Jason can feel him kick because he still hasn't felt him kick.  Every time I mention to Jason to come feel him kick, the baby decides to stop as soon as Jason puts his hand on my belly.  Darn kid!  Other than that, the checkup went well, and I do my sugar test in 4 weeks... yay (note the sarcasm there).  After the next appointment I'll be on to two week appointments instead of 4 week ones.  Crazy to think that I'm already to the point of two week appointments... YIKES!  At least I can start working on his room now. :)

KEYS!

We are officially homeowners now!  YAY!  And with the house, came 10 (count them... TEN) keys to the house!  I don't know what these people did with all these keys, but 9 of them are the same, and Jason says that those 9 go to all the doors, to the lonely 10th key we have no clue what it goes to.  I guess we'll have to go around all the doors of the house and find out... maybe they gave us one they didn't mean to give us.  But at any rate, we own a home... weird thought!  Jason took the first load of stuff to the house... just some small things and stuff we never unpacked here because we knew we'd have to move it anyway.  So hopefully within the next week or two we will be all moved in... the nice part is the fact that we don't have to technically be out of this place until the end of August, but we're obviously aiming for WAY before that!  Whew... we really feel like grown-ups now!

WA Baby Shower

While we were in Washington last week, my sister in law threw a baby shower for me.  It was her third one in something like a month or two, so she's been busy with them, and most of the people there had been to all of them.  She had a rough time coming up with some new and different games, but I think she did just fine!  Thanks Kelli!  Here is the cake... yummy.

This was one of the games we played.  It was a game where the hostess puts different candy bars inside baby diapers and then melts the candy bars, so then they get passed around in order for people to try to guess what candy bar is in each one.  It just looks really strange to watch everyone inspect what looks like a very messy diaper!  Laurie Odegaard inspected quite closely on this one!
Then my mom and Carmen Stucky decided they would collaborate and try to figure some of them out.
I did pretty well... just wish I didn't second guess myself or I would have been almost perfect!
Dayna seemed stumped here, and I'm not sure exactly what Danelle was thinking, other than maybe we were all just a bit crazy!
Terri Nicholas holding her son Luke, and Paula Hochstatter doing their inspecting.
Natalie Skaug won that game.  We realized she must really like her candy bars, and hasn't been around many diapers to be grossed out by the thought of inspecting them closely!
Then on to the presents!  I only posted a few of them on here, but I got LOTS of good things for the little guy.  We were a little worried I wouldn't be able to pack it all well enough to get it back to Tennessee, but we managed.  Here is a little outfit with a "taggie" lion on the front.  The tags are good for textures and boredom. :)
Thea thought the paper was pretty fun too.
This was the end result... AFTER we consolidated some.  See why we were worried about getting it all back to Tennessee on the airplane??
Like I said, the party was great, and thanks to everyone that came and/or helped out to make it happen!  And just for fun because I think it's a cute picture, even though it's not from the baby shower, here's Thea, who decided she wanted to be in her seat, only she didn't figure out how to turn around in it. :)  Isn't she cute?!

Catching up.... with catfish!

On April 25th, Jason and I decided to go to a pay lake east of here.  It was like $4 each for us to fish all day long, and if we caught anything, we could either throw it back, or pay a certain amount per pound to keep them.  Well, here was our set up.

There wasn't much shade because the trees planted around the lakes were still small, so we found what shade we could, and then moved as the shade moved. :)
I caught the first catfish.  Yes, I was doing my best to stay cool that day... it was hotter than what I'm used to still...
A while later, Jason caught his first one.
Turns out, I only caught one... and Jason caught the rest.  This is the biggest one he caught.  He also had two that got off the line right next to the shore, and one other one that broke his line, so I'm sure it was pretty big.
Here's the fish we caught... I think there were 5, although it looks like there are only 4 in the picture.  We had some catfish fillets the next day, and I froze the rest of the fillets for later.  YUM!

I'm sure we'll do it again sometime, or maybe go jugging for catfish instead sometime this summer... we'll see.  Unfortunately, catfish bite better at night, so I probably won't do much of it with Jason because I like my sleep and so does the baby!

Baby kicks...

The day before yesterday was the first time I've been able to feel the baby kick from the outside. He's been really active the last two days, and I'm not sure why because I haven't changed my appetite or anything. Unfortunately, Jason went fishing the other night, so he has yet to feel the baby kick, but he'll get there eventually! I've decided baby kicks are fun, and I've started "playing" with him when he's doing it by pushing back a little bit with my hand. It makes him kick again, but I think it's entertaining. :) I will probably post some pictures in the next day or two... need to find where I put my camera first!

Bad Day...

I have not had the best day in the world today lol. The day started off with getting Jason ready for his stress test voice recognition thing this morning. Well, getting him out the door wasn't so bad, but then I got a phone call about 45 minutes later from a panicked husband that couldn't find his driver's license. Well, big problem there when you need your driver's license in order to get into the police department where the stress test was, and to top if off, Jason was already 15 minutes late because the traffic was horrible this morning. SO... here I go searching around the house for his license. Eventually I did find it, and had to drive to Nashville before I had scheduled in my day. One bad thing down... Jason got his license, and he was able to take his test just fine... and luckily, he passed it, even though it's pretty hard to NOT be stressed when you had a stressful morning searching for your lost driver's license after realizing you drove there without it!
Ok, so then I had a ton of paperwork... paperwork that I probably should still be working on, but I needed a break for a bit. You can only do so much paperwork at once! On my way to a session with one of my families, I got rear-ended. Yes, that would be me, stopped at a stoplight, and the stupid lady behind me not paying attention and rolling into me. Luckily, she wasn't going very fast, so there was no damage to my car, and I don't think there was any damage to hers either, but it was hard to tell due to the fact that it looked like she'd be in several other fender benders. Dumb lady!! Then, in her little middle eastern accent (no offense, I'm just trying to describe how she sounded), she says "how 'bout we give each information, and then we ok?" Um no lady, I called the police, you need to just sit your behind down and wait for them to get here so you can get ticketed for hitting me!! I probably wouldn't have cared so much if I wasn't pregnant, but I didn't want to give her my info anyway because it wasn't my fault she ran into me! So, the cop got there and filled out a police report, and I got her insurance info (although I won't need it for anything), and went on my way... LATE to my session with my family! Stupid lady! Then I had 2 sessions with clients... and then I had to take Taco to the kennel so we can go to Washington without him.
It's always so sad when we take him there. I know they treat him well, but he started whining as soon as I got off the exit from the interstate, and I still had another mile or so before we were actually at the kennel... he just knows that well! I got there, and he was all happy and excited until we opened the door to the actual kennel room, and then he was whining whining whining... it made me want to cry. :( He's so clingy when he realizes we're about to leave! Again, I probably wouldn't have been so emotional if I wasn't pregnant, but that just made me sad.
Now, I have to finish my paperwork so I don't have to do any work on my vacation, and then I have to pack... yes, that's right, I haven't even begun to think about packing for vacation yet! Ugh... it might be a long night... and an early morning with a 6 am flight!! See all you Washington peeps tomorrow!!

Get This...

Does anyone want to buy this (or any part of this) for the baby?  That's what I want.
