Old TV shows...

Staying up late at night after I get off of work has been bad for me!  I've learned that I really really like watching "What's My Line?" and "I've Got a Secret"... too bad they're only on between midnight and one in the morning!  Yes I'm winding down from work, but it's not good for me to realize I like these shows because now I'm more inclined to want to stay up late!  Sometimes I wish we could go back to these types of shows... they're just plain fun... and I don't think we get enough of that these days!

DO NOT CALL

I just registered myself on the National Do Not Call registry.  I got 2 phone calls from this number 866-280-4252 while I was at work today.  I can't answer my phone while at work, but no messages were left, and it really bothered me, so when I got home, I googled it and found a discussion board about this number.  Definitely a piece of crud telemarketing company that got the info from some company selling the info to them.  Somewhere in that discussion board the National Do Not Call registry was mentioned, and the phone number was listed... so I called it and added myself to it because there's nothing that annoys me more than getting stupid phone calls on my cell phone!  If anyone wants to put themselves on that list too, here's the number: 888-382-1222.  It takes 31 days for it to go through, but after that, if you get a telemarketing call, you can file a complaint online (the recording on the phone number tells you the website) and that company can get in trouble. :)  Just a nice tidbit of information for you.

Memorial Day...

Memorial Day is completely different once you have a family member in the service.  It's not just a day off from work (which I don't have the day off today anyway), but it's the day to remember all the heroes whose lives were taken.  So to all those from wars current and past, thank you for your sacrifice... you'll never be forgotten.

This picture has become all too familiar throughout the last 14 months, and obviously before that as well, but I notice it more now than I did before.  It still sends chills down my spine every time I see it.

Famous Dave's in Kennewick

Yesterday one of my managers mentioned that there is a Famous Dave's opening in Kennewick this week.  SO for all you Eastern WA people, if you want to experience the wonder that is BBQ, head on down to Kennewick... although it'll probably be REALLY busy and take a bit longer to get your food to you since it's opening and all the people are still getting used to the way the restaurant works! ;)  Just thought I'd inform you.

Just weight...

I bet you all thought I spelled weight wrong... nope, you're wrong!
I just thought I'd tell everyone that I've lost 15 pounds!!  When I started working out back in January, I weighed 195, and now, as of this morning, I'm 179.4!  I haven't been in the 170s since 8th grade when I had pneumonia (granted it's only by .6 now, but I'll make that a bigger margin), and I'm finally there!  All the hard work is paying off, and if I was harder on myself about not eating ice cream and whatnot, I'd probably be lower, but I believe in still enjoying life and the things I eat. ;)  So yeah, just thought I'd tell you all because I'm REALLY excited about it.
When I started working at Famous Dave's again, everyone kept telling me how skinny I was and how I've lost so much weight since working there before.  My reply was always, well, I haven't really lost that much weight, but my size has been changing... uh, Rachel--15 pounds is A LOT!  So now I can tell everyone that. :)  My goal was to be in the 170s by the time Jason got home... I did it... he's not home yet. :) YAY!

No More Missions...

Just thought I'd let you all know that Jason is no longer doing missions!  They took the stryker apart (well, took some stuff off of it anyway) and turned in their ammo, so that's a good sign.  Now it's just about the waiting game... believe me, I'm counting the days... but I'm not posting them on here for the world to see. ;)  Once he's home on US soil, I'll let you know!!!

HOT DAY + BBQ Restaurant = ??

= NO PEOPLE IN THE RESTAURANT!!!  When it's nice outside, no one wants to come into a BBQ restaurant... they all BBQ on their own!  SO... I went to work expecting to clock on at 1, didn't clock on until 2 because it was so slow, and then clocked off at 4... and in 2 hours I had a total of 4 tables, $116 in sales, and made an entire $13 after my $4 tipshare!  lol... so not worth working today!!!  So I gave away my shift tomorrow because I have a feeling it's going to be just about the same.  It takes more gas than that for me to drive to work!
I think it was in the high 80s lower 90s here today.  I heard several different reports, but it was definitely record-breaking for the area.  So much for spring... we went from winter to summer pretty quick!

BOAT!

So Jason and I just found a good deal on a boat... and the guy is willing to hold it for us until we get to Tennessee in July for our little week of vacation, so I'm sending him some money to hold it, and it's ours! :)  For some reason I'm pretty darn excited about it... I think it's because it's such a good deal.  We will eventually have to get the trailer repainted because it's a little rusty, but that's ok... we'll still have a really good deal... and it's just what Jason wants for a duck boat.  Here's a couple of pictures.

Oh yeah, and we're passing on that giant motor you see there... he's going to find us a smaller one that fits the boat better!

More Pictures from my walk

Ok, I think I have my computer being nice to me now.  I think I just needed to make my pictures smaller before trying to attach them.

If you look really close, there are people on the hill on the right side.  They were looking for their golf balls... I don't think that's how golf is supposed to be played. ;)

Part of the trail goes through a little forested area.  This little guy was just sitting there, so I took a picture of him.  He let me get about 4 feet away from him before he decided to move, but I got a few good pictures of him before he moved. :)

I know Chamber's Bay was a rock quarry before it became a golf course, but I'm not really sure what exactly this is.  I think it looks cool, so I took the picture of it.  It's in the Central Meadow that's not open yet, so I was standing behind a gate and couldn't get a straight on shot of it.  When the meadow opens in August, I might have to go back and try to get a better picture of it.

Chamber's Bay Walk

I went for a walk around the Chamber's Bay Golf Course today.  It's probably somewhere between 3 and 4 miles, and it took me about an hour and a half; I was stopping along the way for pictures too.  We had sun today, so I thought it would be a good day to go and take a few pictures too.  My best pictures were taken with my actual film camera, so obviously I can't post those, but here's some of the ones I took with my digital.  (Well, if it'll be nice enough and let me post them!)

This tree is the single tree on the golf course, and is in just about every picture Chamber's Bay has for the golf course.  It's been on the news lately too because someone took an axe to it and tried to chop it down one night, so there's a reward from crimestoppers for any information leading to the conviction of the person who vandalized it.
I'll probably post a couple more pictures in a little while.  My computer seems to not want to cooperate with me right now.

Entertainment...

Taco has learned that he can sneeze with a toy in his mouth and not lose the toy.  I was pretty impressed by that!
He has also decided that the evil dog in the mirror/window/reflection in the fireplace should be barked at... which in turn creates random barks every once in awhile.  He won't constantly bark, he just lets out one warning bark to that "evil dog", and then I tell him to hush and he stops.  I wonder if he'll ever realize that it's just his reflection.
He's become quite a bit more vocal since we moved into this apartment, and although sometimes it's not a good thing (like when he decides to do it in the middle of the night when he hears a strange noise), there are times when it's entertaining because he's learned how to "talk."  It's the whole vocal growl while moving the mouth... that creates the talking... you know what I'm talking about.  It's actually kind of cute... but I don't let him do it too often because I don't like him to be too vocal. ;)
Anyway, I'm rambling now... it's time to head to bed.

Under a month...

Not much has been going on since my last post, but I figured I should write SOMETHING. :)
Our countdown is at less than a month now.  I'm not writing the actual date Jason comes home because who knows who might be viewing this blog, and I don't want anything to happen to them while they are returning!!
I've just been keeping busy working at Famous Dave's.  I forgot how much running around you really do there, and my feet hurt pretty bad after a full weekend of work, but it pays off with how much money I get.  Saturday I worked for 10 hours, but I made really good money.  Hopefully I can do that every weekend... making as much money as I did; I think I could get used to that. ;)
But that's all for now.  Today is a day of taking it easy and going to the gym later.  Thursday I have a redeployment meeting on base to learn more about the guys coming home, so we'll see if I learn anything or not.  Haha... sometimes those are useless, but I'm afraid if I miss a meeting, it'll be the one that actually has important information!!
