23 months old!
Ruston is 23 months old today... crazy. He is still as sweet as ever, and loves to get kisses if he gets hurt... lately his "bpee" (feet) have been getting lots of kisses. He is very talkative, and his vocabulary increases daily. He also has a very cute humor and a nasty little temper! The terrible twos are in full force. He doesn't hold still anymore, and can often be found pulling a chair to the counter to get whatever he wants or opening any door in the house. He is particular about how things should be and where things belong, and will let you know if something isn't right. He is also very concerned about his doggies. :) We love him tons and are soo glad he is our son!!

22 months!!
It is crazy to me to think Ruston will be 2 in just 2 short months!! He is a very opinionated child and also has some strong OCD tendencies. He points out "bugs" and other small objects on the ground as well as points out anything that is out of place. He is doing decently well with potty training, and we are still not pushing him in that area. We love having such an active little kid who always insists on going "out" and "reee" (reading) a lot.

Sentences
Ruston's first sentence: "I want cheese". His second sentence: "No! My Nanny!!"

I can Jump!!
Ruston just jumped off the ground with both feet for the first time!! He's been trying to jump for awhile and it is usually just one foot up and stomping it, making the sound of a jump. I jump asked him to jump, and both feet came off the ground!! To make sure it wasn't an accident, I asked him to do it several more times and he did... with great pride!! Yay!! One more thing my baby can do!!

Memorial Day Saturday!
WARNING!!! NAKED BABY PICTURES! DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE NUDITY!!!
Ok, now that you've all been warned, I just thought I would give a quick update with a few pictures from my phone. Today Ruston and I spent a decent amount of the afternoon on the deck. I was putting together our new bar-b-que (which I haven't taken a picture of yet), and Ruston was wandering, playing, swimming, and finding all sorts of things to get into! He WAS wearing a diaper, but then decided he wanted to be nude... and since we live in the middle of nowhere, I figured it would be okay.
A couple of these are a tad blurry, sorry. He had fun in his little swimming pool... and yes, those are bbq tongs. I'm really hoping he didn't poke a hole in the pool! There used to be more water in the pool also, but he was having fun stepping on the side and watching the water exit the pool... darn observation child!
We also had the pleasure of a rare visit from neighbors... peacock neighbors, that is!
Our "neighbors" over the ridge have free roaming peacocks, and today they decided to roam to our place. Ruston was pretty interested in them and watched them the entire time they were in our yard, until they wandered back into the woods. Taco and Tucker, on the other hand, barked and barked and growled and barked some more... to which the peacocks just continued as they were. Yes, that's a white peacock too!
As a great close to the evening, we had a beautiful sunset (sadly it doesn't look as great on my phone). I have a picture on my camera, but I have yet to download it... maybe at a later date!
Anyway, we had a great Saturday to our Memorial Day weekend... here's to hoping Sunday and Monday are just as good!!

Catchin up on the news
Again these are from my phone, but I just had to share. Ruston has really been in to copying everything we do. It makes him look real smart, reading the newspaper and getting on the computer.

Bathtime!!
Ruston loves his bath time, and these days if you hold up anything that resembles a phone or camera, he gives this cheesy grin and says "dteeee" (cheese).

18 Months!
Ruston goes almost nowhere without his sippy cup!
And he really wasn't much for smiling yesterday...
But I managed to catch one good smile! I can't believe Ruston is already 1.5 years old!! He was such a trooper at the doctor's office, and got a ton of compliments about his good looks, long eyelashes, and charming personality!
His stats at 18 months:
Weight: 29 pounds 8 ounces (between 75th and 90th percentile)
Height: 32.75 inches (between 50th and 75th percentile)
Head circumference: 51 centimeters (above 95th percentile) Kid's got a big head! :)
I also mentioned to the doctor that I was noticing that Ruston doesn't say as many words as most other kids his age (he says simple things, mama, dada, nana, baba, baby, cheese). I did also mention that I felt like he was still okay because he seemed VERY observant, and just seemed to not want to say anything unless he thought he could for sure say it! The doctor said not to be worried, but if he doesn't start to talk more by the next well-check, then we might be more concerned... so we'll see what happens, but I'm not really worried about it.

March Madness!
We have had some crazy weather this March. We went from needing sweats and warm clothes...
...to decent park weather as long as a jacket was handy... and even times when we could take the jacket off.Since the weather warmed up, we decided to take a trip to the park. Ruston LOVES being outside, so the park was good fun for him, and I had to literally carry him kicking and screaming back to the car in order to leave! Haha.... poor kid.
He really enjoyed swinging, would ask to get out, and then as soon as I would set him on the ground, he would ask to get back in the swing. :)
He also had fun running around on all the toys and dirt... dirt is good fun for a boy!
I think he could very well be a model someday. :)
Lastly, our weather went clear to the point of shorts and sandals. Unfortunately, Ruston was refusing to look at the camera that day!
So I caught him in the car when he didn't have much choice but to look at me! :) This was also one of the few times he actually kept his hat on!
He really looks like a big boy in this picture... makes me sad because he's grown SO much! LOVE HIM THOUGH!!

17 months old!
We have a HAPPY kid! 17 months old, and I had to try to get him to sit still again!
I think this one is the best one, his newest favorite thing to say is "chtee" (cheese). That's what he's doing here in this picture.
I tried to get one last good one, but instead Ruston decided to swat at the dog... oh well! lol

Random January
Just some random photos from January. Even with all the snow on the ground, we have visitors pretty often around these parts. Jason got this shot through the deck's screen door.
Ruston still completely LOVES his bath. I have a difficult time getting him out of it, and he especially loves to play with the RUNNING water. He doesn't mind bubbles, but when they get on his hands, then he reaches out to me to get the bubbles off. I think it's pretty funny actually. :) He's VERY particular about things getting on his hands...
And lastly for random January, I have been using Wii Fit lately, and Ruston enjoys "playing" as well. He was pretty proud of himself each and every time he got on that board... and yes, he's just in a diaper, even though it's winter... BUT the fireplace heat was on and he was standing right in front of it, so he wasn't cold or anything. :)

16 Months and Moving!
Ruston is 16 months old, and hard to keep still, hence all the different shots to try to get a good one! I like the bloopers though too!
I even tried to give him my phone as a way to keep him semi-occupied, but that didn't seem to help either. Then Taco had to get into the action...
These last two seem pretty decent to me. Either way, my BABY is 16 months old! Crazy to think about.
Ruston is currently a big kid... with short legs. He has to be in 18-24 month clothes right now, but the pants are still too long, so they always have to be rolled up... but 18-24 month size shirts fit perfectly. Hopefully his legs will catch up with him eventually!!
He loves to dance! Anytime he hears any little jingle or anything that sounds remotely like a tune, he can't help but stop and dance. It's pretty cute.
Other than that, Ruston's the same little man he has been... constantly learning more and more each day, and as active and monkey-like as ever! :)

Fun times around the house!
After Christmas, daddy and Ruston had TONS of fun playing with new toys. Daddy made the mistake of showing Ruston that he can sit and ride in his shopping cart, so this has become a MUST in Ruston's book!
Daddy was sledding and tried to take Ruston down with him, but since we don't have a SLED and he was using an old boogie board, it didn't work so well!! Maybe we'll try again later, since Jason tried to get a sled at Walmart, but they were all out.
Okay, so these are a tad out of order, but you get the idea.
Here's the attempt to take Ruston sledding down the hill... it was more like a "scoot" down the hill!
And the hike back up!
Ruston also has a tendency to get stuck since he really is too big to fit in the cart... and he has toppled over backwards and sideways a few times too. Kid's gotta learn about gravity somehow! :)
Due to all the playing, Ruston gets quite tired. This particular day, he had been in the car after playing at Cindy's house, and he fell asleep in the car. Usually, as soon as I try to lay him down, he wakes up, but not this day; he was OUT!
Ruston is also learning about snow since we've had a lot of it, and he obviously doesn't remember last year! He's really not quite sure what to think of it, but he'll sit in it and stare at it.

Winter has been going on through, and we've been enjoying it thus far, although it's becoming a bit of a nuisance to get up and down the driveway!!

Christmas, Part 2
We didn't think we were going to get a white Christmas this year because we really hadn't had much of any snow, but we woke up Christmas morning to this:

Such a beautiful view off of our deck. Tucker was also enjoying his Christmas morning outside in the snow. He really loves to be outside, and is in a fairly large pen so he can still run around okay.

And of course, looking down the driveway. Luckily, it wasn't too much that we could still get down the driveway... but still just enough to enjoy the winter coziness. :)

Once we got up and going, we headed over to the Thackxton home for Christmas breakfast and lots of presents! Of course, I didn't think to get any pictures of the table full of food, but it was GOOD! The kids could barely contain themselves, well, neither could Nanny (Cindy), around all the presents, so the opening ensued.

Yes, that pile of presents are all for Ruston! He, again, loved opening all his presents from Nanny and Pa.

Once the madness of present opening was finished, we headed back home for a relaxed rest of the day. Ruston decided it was time to enjoy his Christmas present from Grammie and Papa Boo... this horse!

I also had to get a picture of him in his Christmas clothes. Such a grown up little man!

Trying to multi-task... there's no way that bottle was coming out of his hand!

Merry Christmas everyone!! We had a lot of fun this year, and know that each year will grow exponentially in the amount of fun and joy we have watching Ruston grow up!!
