In mid-August was the Wilson County Fair, which happens to be one of the largest (if not THE largest) fair in the state of Tennessee. Brooklyn really wanted Jason to take her so she could have fun and ride rides, so we swapped kids with Cindy and Jason, Brooklyn, and I trekked out to the fair. Due to the crazy high price of wristbands, I was the picture taker and didn't ride any rides. Jason and Brooklyn rode this caterpillar roller coaster first.

Living with an 11 year old...
So while the floods were around, we took Brooklyn in until her school was out for the summer. Ruston enjoyed having an extra person around to entertain him.

The rains came down, and the floods came up!
I know... I;m WAY behind in blog updates!! Maybe I will catch up this weekend!!
Anyway, luckily the waters have receded, and the rebuilding has begun. It's amazing to see how quickly people have worked toward rebuilding things, and the charity around here is also amazing. Benefit concerts and whatnot... Nashville and Tennesseans really know how to help themselves instead of waiting for everyone else to help them! It seems like it was WAY longer than 6 weeks ago that this all happened!

Sleepover...
A couple nights ago, Brooklyn got to come to our house and spend the night... a VERY last minute request, but since Jason had the night off and didn't have to work until 1:30pm the next day, we decided it was now or never (seemingly).
Jason and Brook got a lot of Wii playtime in. They were going to go hunting the next morning, but with the cold and rain, Jason decided to NOT get Brook sick, so they played more Wii. :) Here's a little video of them boxing each other... Brook beat up on Jason pretty good!!
(Sorry the video is so dark... it's darker than it was when I took it, but you can see both of them... and at the end, Brook beat him!)

Christmas Number 1
On Sunday we headed over to Carthage to spend the afternoon with Jason's aunt Cindy and her family. It was nice to see them again, and watch the look on the girls' faces when they opened their presents from us. Here is Brooklyn with her different gifts.
A makeup set... she wasn't excited about the picture, but she liked the present!
And a bunch of lip glosses.
This is the only picture Angel would let me get of her. For some reason, she's decided she's afraid of us... oh well. She's holding the movie we got her... Homeward Bound Part 1 and 2.
And here is Karsen who just learned how to hold his own bottle. He is Cindy's husband's daughter's baby... is that confusing enough? :)
Aunt Brooklyn holding Karsen, who was pretty intrigued by the Pepsi can on the table, if I remember correctly.
Here's Jason with Karsen... as long as the kid is happy, Jason will hold him. :)
We had a good time getting to see everyone again... it's just hard to get up there when our schedules mesh!! Merry Christmas number 1!!

Fishing in Tennessee
For some reason the only pictures I took in Tennessee (besides the house pictures) were pictures when we went fishing... I guess the rest of the trip was more about business than fun. Here's Jason with his boat, after we put the two pedestal seats on it.
The other side of the boat.
Jason restringing his line... I think this was one of the times after he got it caught in the tree... that's what happens when you fish in the dark! But hey, the boat floats!
Finally fishing...
Oh look! I fish sometimes too! And I'm wearing camo. ;)
Jason bringing the boat in... it's a good boat, we like it.
That trip was when just Jason and I went fishing. These next pictures are when we took Brooklyn fishing because she kept saying "I want to go fishing" when Jason and I were up at their house, so finally Jason said "do you want to go tomorrow" and she said "yes" almost in disbelief. Brooklyn really liked going fast, especially because it was hot and she had to wear that dumb life jacket because she's under 12.
Jason's first bass he caught.
Jason explaining to Brooklyn how to reel in the line... he's such a good big brother!
Going fast again...
That same night, Jason took Brooklyn catfishing with another friend of his. I didn't go along, but Jason took some pictures of the happenings that night. Brooklyn showing off the bluegill they caught for bait.
Keith is holding Brooklyn so she wouldn't fall off the boat with such a huge fish for her size. She was grinning ear to ear from excitement at catching big fish!
Showing off another fish...
Jason and Brooklyn with the fish they caught that night.
Jason and Brooklyn with their big fish.
It was a fun trip. I'm really glad Brooklyn had so much fun because that was our goal. Jason said she was wide awake all night long, looking for jugs that the catfish had taken, and then making sure to get more bluegill for bait. She LOVES fishing, and I'm sure will go on many more fishing trips with Jason and me.
